HR Tech Fall '22 Recap

HR Tech Fall 2022: wrapping things up!

Last week, Click Boarding exhibited at the annual Fall HR Tech Conference and – dare we say – it was our best year yet! While HR professionals and tech experts showed up in swarms following the quiet years of COVID, Team Click stepped up to meet the evolving demands of today’s workforce.

If you couldn’t make it to Vegas or didn’t catch Click, here’s what you missed:

1. Captivating conversations

Whether on the show floor, in thought leadership sessions or over happy hour, conference attendees were fired up discussing the latest trends and happenings in HR technology. Our team of employee journey experts emphasized the importance of onboarding as the entry point to employee engagement. And that sentiment was validated in the exclusive tracks throughout the week.

According to Jannette Kresser, Product Owner at Click, “In today’s talent market, the importance of employee engagement has never been more urgent. Supporting engagement is fundamental – from the moment they say “YES” through onboarding and the rest of the employee journey. This is where Click comes in. We help organizations connect with employees through their onboarding journey.”

2. A Tech Talk with Click Boarding & Aptitude Research

Our proudest moment was listening to Click CEO, Mike Ehrle, and Aptitude Research Founder and Chief Analyst, Madeline Laurano, share findings from our newly sponsored report on the state of onboarding in 2022. This dynamic duo presented in the Tech Talk Theater on the final day of the show to a highly engaged audience.

Key takeaways from our Tech Talk

While traditional onboarding implies day of hire, Ehrle shared the crucial importance of the “preboarding” period, from offer acceptance to Day 1. When new hires vulnerably exit the recruiting stage and cannot yet be contacted through a standard suite solution.

Sadly, many employers still aren’t getting onboarding right. And they are falling behind fast, given the drastic impact of this critical period:

  • 86% of companies believe that new hires make their decision to stay in the first 90 days.
  • 75% of new hires share their experience on social channels.
  • 93% of companies believe managers know quality hires in first 90 days.

The risk behind the Valley of Uncertainty™ is undeniable amidst employee transitions. While reduced productivity and disengagement become a given, ghosting and flight risks present an extreme threat as employees vote with their feet.

When it comes to the accountability of onboarding, we have to acknowledge it’s a business priority across the enterprise. And it requires proper administration from an infrastructure standpoint. Laurano said it best, “We have to think about systems that have deep domain expertise in onboarding that can support everything from compliance to experience, to being able to make sure this fits within the workflow of employees.”

3. Collaboration with leading HR Tech vendors

This year, we were thrilled to participate in the HR Tech Partnership Summit, which combined session presentations with the opportunity to meet one-on-one with current or potential partners. Our Digital Transformation team greatly enjoyed the speed dating format of this unique event.

Click’s Chief Strategy Officer Christine Marino said the event was truly inspiring. “Not only did we walk away with countless opportunities that would strategically expand our partner and advisory outlets, but the energy of being in the same room with three-dimensional people and sharing awesome insights and ideas was off the charts!”

4. Belly laughs from Booth #6032

Last, but certainly not least, we had a blast running a crowd-favorite game – “The Onboarding Price is Right.” Team Click took a spin on the Yodler game, sending a hiker over the Valley of Uncertainty. Participants answered rapid-fire questions on the state of onboarding today while discovering the impact and ROI of onboarding greatly outweighs the investment cost.
